Food, agriculture and enviroment

A constantly increasing world population and the economic development put pressure on demand for food and agricultural products. In 2050 it is estimated that we will have a population of 9 billion people to feed, so a new vision is needed to guarantee food supply, environmental sustainability and economic opportunities through agriculture.

The European Commission has focused mainly on the search for solutions that look for sustainability, production efficiency, resilience of exploitation areas, provision of services, empowerment of rural areas and support for rural innovation policies, in addition to the creation of circular economies to reduce product surplus.
