Maite is from Barcelona, and her passion for understanding how cells work led her to study biochemistry. During her degree, she had the opportunity to do an Erasmus in Florence, where she discovered her interest in the world of nutrition and its impact on biochemistry.

After her return, she specialized in food safety, which allowed her to investigate the metabolic effect of nutrients on diseases such as obesity and diabetes. She then focused her career on breast cancer for her PhD thesis, which she submitted in June 2023. Now, her motivation is to apply her knowledge from a different perspective.

Maite speaks Catalan, Spanish, English, Italian, and Portuguese, reflecting her interest in languages and cultures. In her free time, she likes to draw, read, and play paddle tennis. She loves to travel, see new cultures and ways of living, and try the local gastronomy.
