EIC Pathfinder 2023: the EU funding support for emerging technologies and researchers
After the release of the new 2023 Work Programme, we are sure some start-ups started considering applying to EIC programmes to boost their projects. Among the different opportunities, EIC Pathfinder stands for early-stage development activities (TRL 1-4).
What key points make EIC Pathfinder suitable for these novel ideas in 2023? Let’s find out.
EIC Pathfinder: Who can apply?
EIC Pathfinder welcomes all new ideas from any area of technology or business with the potential to create new markets and/or address global challenges. This EIC programme allows the most creative and forward-thinking researchers to collaborate to achieve bold technologies. For that reason, EIC Pathfinder is conceived for consortia (of at least 3 different entities). Additionally, single applicants or small consortia (two partners) can apply for EIC Pathfinder Challenges.
If your project is funded, what will you receive?
The total budget for EIC Pathfinder is €343 million. To cover your project costs, the EIC would contribute up to €3 million (Open) or up to €4 million (Challenges). In addition, it’s possible to receive up to €50.000 to undertake complementary activities. The funding rate of EIC Pathfinder will be 100% of the eligible costs.
EIC Pathfinder Challenges for 2023
This year, projects submitted to EIC Pathfinder Challenges must target one of the following goals:
- Clean and efficient cooling.
- Architecture, Engineering and Construction digitalisation for a novel triad of design, fabrication, and materials.
- Precision nutrition.
- Responsible electronics.
- In-space solar energy harvesting for innovative space applications.
What are the deadlines for EIC Pathfinder in 2023?
The EIC Pathfinder Open cut-off date will be next March 7th, and EIC Pathfinder Challenges on October 18th.
