Innovation Interview: How GGMS Makes High-Precision Ground Motion Monitoring Accessible and Affordable

InSAR technology offers unprecedented insights into ground deformation, but its adoption remains limited across many industries due to complexity and cost barriers. Pavel Pavlovskiy, CEO of GeoKinesia, shares how the Global Ground Monitoring Service (GGMS) is breaking down these barriers by delivering a fully automated, AI-powered platform that brings real-time, high-precision ground motion data within reach of SMEs and professionals worldwide.

1. What was the original problem or gap in the market that inspired the creation of GGMS?

InSAR is a powerful remote sensing techniques, which remains largely underutilised by many industrial sectors or users. Insurance companies would be a good example. Our online, platform-based solution is an important step  in further democratisation of the technology, making it accessible to the users across the world  and also making it highly affordable. 

2. How does your approach to automating InSAR processing with Deep Learning differ from existing solutions?

We think that many players in the domain experiment with InSAR automation, and learn to apply ML,  but in general it remains beyond the state of the art. We want to make a step forward to offer a service with highly automated processing chain underlying it.

3. How does GGMS make high-precision ground motion data accessible and affordable to SMEs and local professionals?

Highly intuitive,  simple, online, platform-based, on demand service. It reduces transaction costs and eliminates the bureaucracy from the process. It also helps to the convenience of the users.

4. How does Orbify contribute to the project as your partner?

Orbify is a great partner because they possess two key technical capabilities – earth observation solutions development and software solutions development, in particular platform-based solutions.   

5. How has your experience working with Evolution Europe supported your success in this project?

Firstly, Evolution Europe played a key role in developing a winning proposal and securing the project. Secondly, this kind of projects apart from the technical capabilities and commercial acumen requires a highly professional and effective administration and communication with all key stakeholders. Evolution Europe is absolutely brilliant in supporting the project’s administration and also in project’s progress tracking and reporting.   

6. What’s next for GGMS; what are your future plans in terms of features, scale, or geographic reach?

We focus on the project execution now, but from the technical perspective all the risks are under control. We always knew that future commercial risks for the solution are more serious and we are preparing now a plan for the service commercial launch and scaling. The  task is much more complex than it may seem.
