About the programme

The NEOTECprogramme is a CDTI grant scheme that supports the creation and consolidation of technology-based companies (EBTs) whose business model is based on proprietary technology generated from research.

Who can participate (beneficiary entities)
  • Innovative small businesses (EBTs) are eligible to apply.
  • The company must be no more than three years old.
  • It must have a minimum share capital of €20,000.
  • It must have a business model based on its own technology.
  • This technology must be developed internally by the company.
Types of projects
  • It funds projects for the creation of technology start-ups.
  • It supports projects for the consolidation of technology start-ups.
  • It includes the development of innovative products in any technology sector.
  • It also covers the development of innovative services in any technology sector.
Terms and conditions of funding
  • NEOTEC offers non-repayable grants.
  • It funds up to 70% of the project budget.
  • The maximum standard grant is €250,000.
  • The limit can be extended to €325,000 if the start-up incorporates a PhD holder into the team.
Deadline
  • The dates for the CDTI’s NEOTEC 2025 call for proposals were from 12 May 2025 to 12 June 2025 at 12:00 noon (peninsular time).
  • The following deadlines have not yet been announced, but they can be consulted as soon as they are published on the CDTI’s official website..

NEOTEC allows financing for:

  • Own staff
  • Investments in equipment and materials
  • External collaborations and consultancies
  • Patents, licences, insurance, rentals and supplies

  • The call for applications has a single evaluation phase.
  • Applications must be submitted electronically.
  • No guarantees are required to receive advance payments.
  • Advance payments of up to 60% of the aid granted may be received.

Is NEOTEC compatible with other forms of funding?

Yes, it is compatible provided that the intensity limits are not exceeded and that the same expenditure items are not financed by other grants.

Given the level of detail required, it is advisable to begin preparing the proposal 1–2 months before the deadline.

What size should the project budget be?

The project budget must be at least €175,000.

How do I know if I am eligible for NEOTEC?

You are eligible if your company meets all of the following requirements:

  • You are a small, innovative technology-based company (EBT).
  • You have been in business for less than three years.
  • You have a minimum paid-up share capital of €20,000.
  • Your business model is based on proprietary technology developed in-house.
  • You have not been acquired by another company and you are not a spin-off of a large company.

If you meet these criteria, your start-up may be eligible for NEOTEC.

How are projects evaluated?

Projects are scored according to:

  • Business model and commercial exploitation (30 points)
  • Technology and innovation (35 points)
  • Capacity of the entrepreneurial team (30 points)
  • Socio-economic and environmental impact (5 points)
