The food industry is facing unprecedented challenges due to changing consumer preferences, increasing demand for fresh food, and the urgent need to reduce waste. In this context, IntelActivAI emerges as an innovative solution that combines artificial intelligence, active packaging, and smart labels to enhance safety and efficiency in the production and distribution of fresh food.
Through a consortium of technology experts — LUCE, DARWIN, OSCILLUM, and ENCAPSULAE — and with the support of renowned research centers such as CSIC, the University of Salamanca, and the University of Valencia, the project will drive the development of a new generation of more sustainable and efficient packaging solutions.
The technology developed will enable real-time monitoring of food status through smart biosensors, optimize industrial processing through predictive AI-based analysis, and reduce food waste by improving packaging recyclability.
Structured into five key phases — from the research of advanced materials to real-world industrial validation — this 16-month project aims to transform the food industry, ensuring safer and more sustainable products for the future.
