About CDTI

El CDTI (Centre for Technological Development and Innovation)  is a public entity of the Spanish Government that promotes innovation, technological development and business R&D through grants and low-interest loans. It supports companies of all sizes in research, industrial modernisation, innovation and production expansion projects, offering competitive financial conditions and, in many cases, a non-refundable tranche.

Who can participate (beneficiary entities)

Spanish companies of any size, from SMEs to large corporations, that carry out research, development, innovation or production improvement projects are eligible for CDTI grants. Research organisations may also participate as subcontractors.

Types of CDTI grants

The CDTI has a wide range of instruments at its disposal, including:

Funding terms and conditions

Terms and conditions may include:

  • Funding of up to 75% of the budget, extendable to 85% in LICs with ERDF co-financing.
  • Non-repayable tranche of up to 30%.
  • Reduced interest rate, starting at Euribor +0.5%.
  • No fees.
  • Usual project duration: 9 to 24 months.
  • Minimum budget from €175,000, depending on the line.
Deadlines
  • Lines such as LIC and LIC-A: open call for applications throughout the year.
  • Other CDTI lines are published through calls for applications with specific dates.

  1. Eligibility assessment.
  2. Preparation of technical and financial documentation.
  3. Submission of application.
  4. Technical and economic assessment by CDTI.
  5. Approval and formalisation of the loan.
  6. Monitoring, audits and final justification.
