The Challenge

In a global landscape increasingly shaped by geopolitical instability and the rise of unconventional threats, the ability to detect and respond rapidly to CBRNe risks (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive threats) has become a critical challenge.
Current technologies still face significant limitations in terms of sensitivity, interoperability, and response speed, making it difficult to accurately identify hazardous agents in real-world environments. In addition, Europe remains heavily dependent on external technologies in strategic sectors such as security and defense, limiting its technological sovereignty and operational autonomy.

The Project

To address this challenge, the ARGUS project a consortium led by INTERA Group (Sensing & Control) together with its partners Mion Technologies and Ibatech Tecnología — is developing an advanced, portable, and intelligent sensing platform capable of detecting and analyzing multiple types of threats in real time.
The solution combines ultra-high sensitivity chemical-biological and radiological-nuclear sensors — reaching detection levels in parts per quadrillion — together with embedded artificial intelligence algorithms and optimized processing systems.

ARGUS also introduces a modular and interoperable architecture that enables the integration of different sensors into a single platform, allowing unified data management, automated alert generation, and real-time operational visualization in complex environments.
Developed by a consortium of leading technology companies and research centers, the project covers the entire innovation cycle, from industrial research to validation in simulated operational environments (TRL6), laying the foundations for future industrial scalability.

The Impact

ARGUS represents a major breakthrough in security technologies and risk management, generating both technological and strategic impact.
More specifically, the project significantly enhances early detection and emergency response capabilities, improving safety across sectors such as defense, critical infrastructure, and civil protection. At the same time, ARGUS contributes to strengthening Europe’s technological autonomy by reducing dependence on external solutions in a highly strategic sector.

In addition, the project drives innovation in key areas such as microelectronics, advanced sensing technologies, and artificial intelligence, creating new industrial development opportunities and positioning Europe as a leader in deep-tech security solutions.

The Result

Thanks to the funding obtained through the CDTI Misiones Programme, which awarded over €1.54 million to the project, ARGUS is advancing toward the development of a highly disruptive technological solution capable of operating in real-world scenarios and adapting to multiple operational contexts.

The project will validate a fully integrated system with high performance in sensitivity, precision, and response time, consolidating a solution with strong commercialization potential and dual-use applications in both civilian and defense sectors.

In the long term, ARGUS will pave the way for new R&D initiatives, patent development, and participation in strategic European programs, further strengthening the consortium’s position within the innovation ecosystem for security and defense technologies.

Argus Success Story (10)

“From the very first moment, the entire process [with Evolution] was very simple and well-structured… we would especially highlight the smooth and close communication throughout all phases of the project.”
